Installation & Use

We can install the Feeder on request depending on location and number of Feeders required.

If there is space for the feeder but not for the entire standard retention bar then Simplefeeder can supply a shortened steel bar or a softer aluminium bar with can easily be bent to fit unusual spaces.
We can also supply a different rear mounted setup at no extra cost, we just need to understand the space restriction.

The advertised C10 SiMPLEFEEDER is for dry feed / pellets/ cubes and has a capacity of approximately 22 Kg, depending on the feed consistency. This is normally about 3 days feed, though this would depend on your individualised feeding schedule. The C30 SiMPLEFEEDER capacity is 18 Kg to accomodate a slide at a greater pitch for moist feed.

Research has shown us that the 5 versions of SimpleFeeders, cover all spectrum of processed feed produced by the Equine Feed companies. The SimpleFeeders have not been designed for Equine Feed with chaff included. You can see our feeder range here.

You may not be able to check your horse several times a day or you simply want to make sure that they are not left wanting. The SimpleFeeder makes sure your horse doesn’t miss their meal time. Your horse is happy, knowing that his scheduled meal will be there on time and you have the peace of mind knowing that your horse is well fed and taken care of.

We have found that the SiMPLEFEEDER is used equally by both individual horse owners and large training yards.

The horse / pony’s stomach is very small and is designed for small regular meals. As a guide a horse should have no more than 2kg of grain based feed eg cubes / mixes at any one time and a pony 1kg at any one time.

The mounting bar setup shown does not normally effect the opening of a sliding door.

Research has shown us that the inconsistency of the home made feed which included chaff in Australian stud farms is not conducive to allow the SimpleFeeder to dispense the feed with the accuracy that we would recommend. Other research has confirmed that the homemade feed in the Ocala stud farms in Florida is conducive to allow the SimpleFeeder to dispense the feed with the accuracy that we would recommend. Technical Questions

The Feeder is powered from the mains with a powerpack reaching up to 5 meters. There is a transformer built in which reduces the voltage from 240v down to 12v, to ensure the horse’s safety. However SimpleFeeder also provides battery and solar options for an additional cost.

In our 4 years we have had no complaints on the Feeders durability when used in either internal & external stables but this is to be expected as the SimpleFeeder shell is made from high density ABS making it extremely durable and impact resistant.

We recommend a 40AH battery (car battery). This will give a life of between 1.5-2 years . Multiple unit can be connected to one battery but this will reduce the life proportionally
Smaller batteries ( like 20AH ) can also be used but this will give a shorter life.

 • Using a blunt knife (like a butter knife) push it between the black plastic timer surround and the white plastic box (the over label)
 • Prizing it from the top or the left side it should easily pop out
 • There are 4 push is connections in the back of the timer (1-4) Before you pull them out, photograph them, so you do not mix them up
 • The new timer can just be plugged in and pushed back into place
 • You will need to reset and reprogram

Each SimpleFeeder has a specific timer and therefore only runs a single feeder.

Our feeders are 12V units and comes supplied with a transformer to plug into a standard socket.

It will run with a battery but we do not supply the battery and the connection to the battery is an optional extra which you will find in our Shop.

 • Ensure it is plugged in and that the timer display is on
 • If the timer display is not “on” then please press the small reset button to get it going
 • Set the time to the current time
 • Set the start time to 1 hour before your feed and 30 minutes after (1.5-hour running time)
 • Example if you want to feed at 06:00 – set the start time to 05:00 and the finish time to 06:30
Things to watch out for
 • Ensure you have the heaters coming on for every feed not just the colder times of day
 • Ensure it is coming on 7 days a week (7 triangles)
